The powerlifting competition drew athletes who train year-round, with some reported to combine for more than 1,000 pounds across the three Olympic lifts, according to WINK News.

Timothy Rabbu, a pickleball athlete quoted in WINK News' coverage, won two of his three matches on the day. "I gave it my all," he said, adding that the event's social side mattered as much as the score: "That means that I get to meet new friends, we're all champions."

Wayne Gerrick III, who volunteered at the event with The III Movement Athletic Club, described what he saw from the sideline: "It's absolutely amazing watching these athletes, they're absolutely incredible."
