Fort Myers Beach's First-Ever Bash on the Bay Festival Fills Labor Day Weekend

Fort Myers Beach is hosting its first-ever Bash on the Bay festival this Labor Day weekend, running Saturday, September 5 through Monday, September 7, 2026. According to reporting published September 4, 2026 by WINK News, the inaugural event was created to give visitors a reason to come to the island during September, which organizers described as typically one of the slowest months of the year for the area.

The festival is centered on the bay side of the island at On the Bay, part of the Matanzas Inn property at 414 Crescent Street, Fort Myers Beach. It is being hosted by the Matanzas Inn, On the Bay restaurant and the adjoining marina, put on together as a joint effort rather than a single business's event. That location puts it on the calmer, landward side of the island rather than facing the open Gulf, which is part of why organizers can run a multi-day outdoor festival there with a marina, a boat show and a stage all in the same footprint.

Gates run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Labor Day Monday, to close out the weekend earlier for the drive home. The lineup includes live music each day, with headline sets from Jacquie Roar on Saturday and the Ben Allen Band on Sunday, alongside DJs and local performers. A boat show runs both on the water and on land at the marina, alongside a food court, a beer garden, arts and crafts vendors, a cornhole tournament, karaoke, a pie-eating contest, a watermelon-eating contest and a kids' zone with inflatables. The weekend closes with a "Queen of the Bay" coronation.

September is a slow month for visitor traffic on the island, and organizers built Bash on the Bay specifically to counter that rather than to compete with an already-busy season. Framing a brand-new, three-day, multi-venue event around the island's quietest stretch is a deliberate bet that a reason to visit can be manufactured where the calendar does not naturally provide one, and it is a bet three separate island businesses, the inn, the restaurant and the marina, chose to make together rather than individually.

Because this is a first-year event, none of what happens this weekend is a track record yet. Whether it becomes an annual fixture on the island's calendar, the way Pirate Fest or the Sizzle dining promotion have, depends on how this first run actually draws.

Nobody can honestly say what a single new festival weekend does to nearby property values, and be skeptical of anyone who tells you otherwise. What is fair to say is narrower: a three-day event built around live music, a boat show and marina activity is one more sign of commercial activity returning to the bay side of Fort Myers Beach, on a stretch of the island where recovery since Hurricane Ian has moved at very different speeds from one block to the next.

Buyers looking at Fort Myers Beach waterfront homes or homes with boat access near that side of the island are buying into a stretch of shoreline that is visibly active again, with a marina, a resort and a restaurant now running a joint event on it, and that is worth seeing in person on an ordinary week rather than judging from one festival weekend.

As one data point about visitor activity coming back to a specific stretch of the island, not as anything that moves a number on a specific property. A new festival tells you commercial activity is returning to the bay side of Fort Myers Beach; it does not tell you what a given house is worth, what it costs to insure, or what an inspection will find.
