36th Annual American Sand Sculpting Championship Returns to Fort Myers Beach November 19-23

The Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce, working with The Sand Lovers, LLC and DiamondHead Beach Resort, has confirmed the 36th Annual American Sand Sculpting Championship will return to Fort Myers Beach November 19 through 23, 2026, according to reporting first published in August by Fort Myers Beach Talk and updated with additional details by the Chamber on September 21-22, 2026. The event runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at DiamondHead Beach Resort.

The 2026 event is themed "Stars, Stripes & Sand: Sculpting the American Story," tied to the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, according to the Chamber's announcement. Twenty-nine sculptors are confirmed to compete, split evenly between twelve Master sculptors and twelve Advanced Amateur sculptors, traveling from 10 states and 5 countries, the same reporting states.

"Fort Myers Beach is a special piece of paradise. It's a 7-mile island lined with beautiful sugar sand beaches, perfect for making intricate, giant sandcastles," sculptor Bill Knight of The Sand Lovers told Fort Myers Beach Talk. Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jacki Liszak added that the theme "gives us an opportunity to celebrate not only the incredible talent of our sculptors, but also the stories, traditions and spirit that bring us together as Americans."

Beyond the sculpting competition itself, the event includes a designated sand play area, on-site sculpting demonstrations, and food and beverage vendors, according to the Chamber's event listing. For getting to the island that week, Seminole Casino has confirmed shuttle service from downtown parking lots to DiamondHead Beach Resort, LeeTran's tram is running a route from Bowditch Point Regional Park to the Fort Myers Beach Library, and LeeTran's trolley continues its regular stops along the island.

Admission for 2026 had not been published as of this writing. In 2025, the Chamber's own listing showed opening day admitted the public at no charge, with a modest per-person charge on the remaining days and onsite parking sold separately; whether that structure repeats for 2026 has not yet been confirmed and this article will not assume it does.

The event runs November 19 through 23, 2026, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, at DiamondHead Beach Resort, 2000 Estero Blvd on Fort Myers Beach. The resort and the surrounding stretch of the island sit along the same barrier-island shoreline that draws visitors to the Chamber's other fall and winter events, and organizers are encouraging early hotel and vacation-rental reservations given the event's draw, which topped 15,000 attendees last year according to the Chamber.
