Building a community around that meant leaving golf out on purpose rather than adding it as an afterthought.

Three separate lakes covering more than 800 combined acres, deep enough from the old quarry excavation to support powerboating, water skiing and wakeboarding, along with kayaking and paddleboarding for residents who want a quieter pace. Lakefront homeowners can build a private boat dock directly behind their own home. Homeowners whose lots are not on the water use the community boat ramp and marina instead, so a lake view is not a requirement for getting a boat onto the water at WildBlue.

No. The lakes at WildBlue are freshwater and entirely inland, and the marina and private docks serve those lakes, not a route out to the Gulf. This is worth being precise about, because Fort Myers waterfront listings vary enormously in what "waterfront" actually means: a dock on the Caloosahatchee River is a different product from a dock on a landlocked quarry lake, even though both get called waterfront. If a genuine boat route to open Gulf water is what you are shopping for rather than recreation on a private lake, Fort Myers waterfront homes on the river side is the place to look instead of WildBlue.

That preserve acreage sits alongside the lakes rather than in place of them, and it is part of why WildBlue reads as more open and less densely built than some of the newer communities along the same Corkscrew Road corridor.

Four builders currently build within WildBlue: Lennar, Pulte, Stock Development and WCI. Each runs its own product line and its own floor plans on its own section of the community, so two homes at WildBlue can look and build very differently depending on which builder's section they sit in, from production-style single-family homes up through larger custom and semi-custom estates. Ask which builder is active on a specific lot before comparing homes against each other, because the builder changes the product more than the WildBlue name does.

About 10 to 15 minutes from Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW), and close to Gulf Coast Town Center, Miromar Outlets and Coconut Point Mall, all within a short drive along the I-75 corridor. That combination of a fast airport run and nearby retail is part of why WildBlue draws buyers who want a quieter, water-centered community without being far from the conveniences on Alico and Corkscrew Roads.

That depends on how you actually weigh a fairway against a deep-water lake and a full water-recreation program. If golf inside the gates is a requirement rather than a preference, WildBlue will not deliver it, and a nearby community built around a course is the better fit.
