The towers in the photograph above are The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Estero Bay at Saltleaf, which sit within the community rather than being the whole of it. More on that below, because the two names get used as if they were one.
It is one of the newer bayfront names in this market, and the first thing worth settling about it is the one thing the name gets wrong for people.

Is Saltleaf Actually in Estero?
No. Saltleaf on Estero Bay is in Bonita Springs.
The developer named it after the water it sits on rather than the city that governs it. Estero Bay stretches along the coastline past more than one city, so a community can sit directly on that water without sitting inside the town of Estero.
It is a naming pattern rather than an error in either direction, and it caused a real mistake on this site before it was corrected. It is worth knowing before you rule a listing in or out by its name alone.
How Should That Change the Way You Search?
Search the community name, not just the city, and confirm the governing city on any listing.
If you filter an MLS search or a portal by "Estero", a Bonita Springs listing at Saltleaf will not surface, even though the words Estero Bay are printed in its name. The reverse trips people up as well: filtering to Bonita Springs and then skipping past Saltleaf because the name reads Estero.
The same care is worth taking with Pelican Landing, which sits near the boundary and gets listed under the wrong city by at least one brokerage.
What Does It Offer on the Water?
Bay frontage, directly on Estero Bay, which puts it in the same category as Bonita Bay and Pelican Landing, both also on that water and both also in Bonita Springs rather than Estero.
There is a marina. That is worth saying plainly, because bay frontage on its own tells you what you can look at rather than what you can do, and the two get written as though they were the same thing.

The residential towers within Saltleaf. Not the whole community, and the distinction is worth getting right.
Saltleaf on Estero Bay is the larger community. The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Estero Bay are the towers inside it. Alongside them Saltleaf holds the marina, a golf preserve, dining, trails and its other amenities, so the residences are one address within a much bigger place rather than a name for the whole thing.
That is the same shape as The Colony inside Pelican Landing, and as Shadow Wood Country Club inside The Brooks. One community, a named thing within it, and two names that get used interchangeably by people who have not been told the difference.
It matters practically as well as pedantically. If you are shopping the towers, you are buying a condominium with its own documents and its own fees. If you are shopping Saltleaf more widely, that is a different set of addresses. Tell me which and the search narrows immediately.
Is It a Golf Community, and How Does It Compare?
Yes, and it is gated.
Whether golf membership is bundled with the home or carries its own waiting list and joining cost is the detail to get in writing before you get attached to an address. That review belongs in the inspection period of a purchase rather than in an assumption from a listing sheet, and it is the same question worth asking at Bonita Bay and at Shadow Wood Country Club, where the answer is a multi-year list.
