Three Oaks Parkway Extension Opens Nov. 2, Linking Estero and Bonita Springs to Daniels Parkway

What Is Opening on Three Oaks Parkway?
A road project that people in Estero and Bonita Springs have watched for years is about to open. According to reporting by Blake Wallis of WINK News, published October 19, 2026, and based on a Lee County Government news release issued the same day, the Three Oaks Parkway extension will open to drivers on Monday, November 2.
The extension carries Three Oaks Parkway north across the Fiddlesticks Canal and connects it to Daniels Parkway. County officials describe it as the piece that completes the Three Oaks Parkway corridor, creating a continuous north-south alternative to Interstate 75 that runs south through the Village of Estero and Bonita Springs toward Naples.
Lee County plans a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. that morning on Three Oaks Parkway, south of the new Fiddlesticks Boulevard intersection, with remarks from county commissioners and other officials. The county has said traffic will flow after the ceremony.
What Does the New Section of Road Look Like?
As WINK describes the county's release, the new section is a four-lane divided road, with two 11-foot travel lanes in each direction. There are 5-foot bicycle lanes and sidewalks on both sides.
At the north end, a new roundabout at Fiddlesticks Boulevard and Old Fiddlesticks Boulevard gives access to the nearby Publix shopping center. The county's project site describes the work in two phases: the first runs north of Alico Road from the Fiddlesticks Canal to the area of Indian Paint Lane, and the second runs from there to the Daniels Parkway intersection at Fiddlesticks Boulevard and Palomino Lane.
So the new pavement itself sits north of Estero, in south Fort Myers. The reason it matters to Estero and Bonita Springs is what it connects: Three Oaks Parkway already runs through both, and until now it stopped short of Daniels Parkway.
Is the Project Finished on November 2?
Not entirely. Opening the road to traffic is not the same as finishing the job, and the county has been clear about that.
- Construction continues nearby. According to WINK, the county will keep working in the area after the opening.
- Restriping at Daniels Parkway. The Three Oaks Parkway and Palomino Lane intersection at Daniels Parkway still needs to be restriped.
- Daniels Parkway widening. Daniels Parkway has been widened to eight lanes between Danport Boulevard and Powers Court, but all eight lanes will not open until final paving and striping are done.
On timing, WINK reports that the original construction contract called for completion in mid-2028, and that county officials now expect the project to be finished in early 2027, well ahead of schedule.
Why Does a Road Matter When You Are Buying a Home in Estero?
One of the first practical questions about any home in Estero is how long it takes to get where you need to go in season. For years the answer for much of the area has run through I-75 or US 41, and both are busy from roughly Thanksgiving through Easter.
A finished Three Oaks Parkway gives people living near the corridor another way north. Daniels Parkway is a major east-west road across south Fort Myers, so a direct connection to it changes the options for errands, appointments and work trips that used to mean getting on the interstate for an exit or two.
I want to be careful here. Nobody can honestly say how much time the new link will save any particular household, because that depends on where you start, where you are going and what traffic does once drivers find the new route. And nobody can put a number on what a road does to the value of a home. What it changes is practical: the choices you have for getting around, and how much you depend on one or two main roads.
What Should Estero and Bonita Springs Homeowners Watch?
If you own along the corridor, or you are looking at homes near it, these are the things worth paying attention to over the next several months:
- Traffic patterns on Three Oaks Parkway. A road that now goes somewhere new will carry more through traffic. If a home you are considering backs up to or fronts Three Oaks Parkway, drive it at different times of day once the extension is open, rather than relying on how it felt before November.
- The Daniels Parkway work. Until final paving and striping finish, the area near the new intersection will still have construction. That is temporary, but it is real if you are driving it every day this winter.
- The early 2027 completion target. County officials have moved the finish date up substantially. Whether it holds is the next milestone to watch.
- How your own route changes. The honest test for any buyer is to drive the trips you would actually make from the homes you are considering. I am happy to help you plan those test drives.
How Does This Fit With Everything Else Being Built in Estero?
Road capacity and housing go together. Estero has seen steady residential growth, with new single-family homes, townhomes and apartments either recently finished or working through the Village's review. When I walk buyers through new construction homes in Estero, access is always part of the conversation, because a new community on a well connected road lives very differently from one at the end of a long single approach.
The same goes for established neighborhoods. Many buyers come to Estero for its gated communities with full amenity packages, and how easily you can get in and out of the gate in season matters as much as the clubhouse. Further south, buyers comparing gated communities in Bonita Springs will find that Three Oaks Parkway is now part of that comparison too.
None of this means one location is suddenly better than another. It means the map has changed a little, and it is worth looking at it again with fresh eyes before you make a decision.
Who Can Help Me Make Sense of This?
I follow road and infrastructure projects across my nine Southwest Florida markets because they quietly shape how a neighborhood works day to day. If you are thinking about buying in Estero or Bonita Springs and want to understand how a specific home connects to the places you go, my step-by-step home buying process builds that in from the first conversation. Frequently Asked Questions
When does the Three Oaks Parkway extension open?
According to WINK News, citing an October 19, 2026 Lee County news release, the extension opens to drivers on Monday, November 2, 2026, after a 10 a.m. ribbon cutting on Three Oaks Parkway south of the new Fiddlesticks Boulevard intersection.
What does the Three Oaks Parkway extension connect?
It carries Three Oaks Parkway across the Fiddlesticks Canal to Daniels Parkway. County officials say it completes the corridor and creates a north-south alternative to I-75 running south through the Village of Estero and Bonita Springs toward Naples.
Is construction on Three Oaks Parkway and Daniels Parkway finished?
No. The county will keep working in the area after the opening, including restriping at the Daniels Parkway intersection and final paving and striping before all eight lanes of the widened Daniels Parkway open. Officials now expect completion in early 2027, ahead of the original mid-2028 contract date.
Will the Three Oaks Parkway extension change home values in Estero?
Nobody can honestly put a number on that. What the road changes is practical: more ways to get north without the interstate. Buyers should drive their own regular trips from any home they are considering once the road is open.
