What Should You Know About The Lakes of Estero?

The Lakes of Estero is a D.R. Horton community of 102 single-family homes built around a lake, at the intersection of River Ranch Road and Williams Road in Estero. It is non-gated, on roughly 25 acres, and it has no golf course. I am Kris Asquith, Broker Associate at Premiere Plus Realty, and Estero is one of the nine Southwest Florida markets I work, so I hear a steady stream of questions about the newer construction going in along this corridor, this community among them.

It is also a community with a small, specific wrinkle worth knowing before you go looking for it online: the builder's own website files it under a different city than the one it is actually in.

Where Exactly Is The Lakes of Estero Located?

At the intersection of River Ranch Road and Williams Road in Estero, Florida 33928, on about 25 acres. That zip code matches other established Estero addresses in this area, including Grandezza, also 33928.

Is The Lakes of Estero a Gated Community?

No. The Lakes of Estero is non-gated. The Lakes of Estero community guide has the full profile on this one.

Does The Lakes of Estero Have a Golf Course?

No. There is no golf course at The Lakes of Estero. Buyers who want golf inside the gates on this side of Estero are better served by West Bay Club, Grandezza, or Pelican Sound, all of which carry a course.

What Is the Water Like at The Lakes of Estero?

A lake, with most homesites carrying a lake view. It is outlook rather than a route anywhere: there is no boating connection out to Estero Bay or the Gulf from this community. If Gulf access by boat is part of what you are shopping for, West Bay Club and Pelican Sound are the two Estero communities that actually deliver it, both by way of the Estero River.

What Do the Homes at The Lakes of Estero Look Like?

Single-family homes on two floor plans as of this writing: the Ellenton, with 4 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms at about 2,306 square feet, and the Coral, with 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms at about 2,596 square feet. Both are newly built rather than resale, which is the main thing separating this community from most of the older, established neighborhoods nearby.

What Amenities Does The Lakes of Estero Have?

A clubhouse, a resort-style pool, a fitness center, tennis and pickleball courts, a basketball court, a playground, and walking trails through the community. It is a full recreation package for a community of this size, built around the lake that most of the homesites look out on.

Is The Lakes of Estero in Fort Myers or Estero?

Estero. This is worth stating directly, because D.R. Horton's own site files the community under its "Fort Myers" regional section, which is the builder's marketing grouping rather than the municipal boundary. The address, the cross streets, and the zip code all place it in Estero, matching the rest of this corridor. It is the kind of detail that only matters until a buyer runs into it searching online and gets confused about which town they are actually looking at.

How Does The Lakes of Estero Compare to Other New Construction Nearby?

The single-family product and the lake view are the two things that set it apart from its closest neighbors on this corridor. Summercrest, built by Toll Brothers, is gated attached townhomes with no water feature at all. Verdana Village is a much larger master-planned community, further along in its own build-out, with a bigger amenity complex. The Lakes of Estero sits between those two in scale: a single-family, non-gated community built around one amenity center and a lake, rather than a townhome product or a large master-planned development. For buyers comparing new construction across Estero, it is worth its own look rather than getting lumped in with either of those.

Is The Lakes of Estero Worth a Closer Look?

If a non-gated single-family home on a lake, without a golf course and without the dues of a larger master-planned community, is what you are after, The Lakes of Estero is one of the more direct answers to that on this corridor right now. Get in touch or call (239) 300-1427, and I will walk you through the floor plans, the HOA, and how this community actually compares to the new construction around it, along with what to expect through the home buying process on a newly built home specifically.
