A gated, master-planned community of 722 acres on Corkscrew Road, roughly three miles east of I-75 in Estero.
It is built around a 240-acre lake and preserve, which is the organising fact about the place: the water is the centre of the plan rather than an edge to it, and the preserve limits what can ever be built against it. It was developed by Cameratta Companies with Pulte Homes.

Does Corkscrew Shores Have a Golf Course?
No. There is no golf course at Corkscrew Shores, and this is the single most common thing buyers get wrong about it.
The confusion is understandable rather than careless. Golf carts are a normal way to move around the community, and in this part of Lee County a gated community with carts rolling through it reads as a golf community to almost everybody. The carts are for getting to the clubhouse and around the neighbourhood.

What Kind of Water Is It?
A lake. A large one, at 240 acres, and it is genuinely the feature of the community rather than a retention pond with a name.
What it is not is a route anywhere. There is no boat access to Estero Bay or the Gulf from Corkscrew Shores, and no amount of water frontage changes that. In Estero this distinction matters more than anywhere else on this coast, because the communities look similar from a listing photograph and behave completely differently.
Pelican Sound is the only Estero community with genuine Gulf access by boat. Everything else in Estero, including this one, is a lake community. If you intend to keep a boat and take it out, that single sentence decides your search.
What Does the Community Include?
The amenity here is unusual in one specific respect: there is a restaurant and bar on site.
The Captain's Club operates within the community, which is not the norm for a community of this kind at this size, and it changes how the place is used day to day. Beyond it there is a lakefront clubhouse and an aquatic complex, with pickleball, tennis and bocce.
What that adds up to is a community whose social centre is the lake and the clubhouse rather than a course. Worth weighing honestly against the golf communities, because the annual cost structure of the two is not the same thing.
How Does It Compare With the Rest of Estero?
Estero divides more cleanly than most markets, and it divides on water first and golf second.
On water: Pelican Sound has Gulf access, West Bay Club sits on Estero Bay, and everything else is a lake community. On golf: Pelican Sound, Grandezza and West Bay Club have courses, and Corkscrew Shores, Verdana Village, Kingston, RiverCreek and Corkscrew Estates do not.
