What Is the Amenity Actually Like?
Unusually big, and built for using rather than for the brochure.
The centre of it is a resort-style pool with a long waterslide, alongside a two-story fitness centre. There is a full indoor restaurant as well as poolside dining, and an adults-only bar, which is a rarer thing than it sounds: most communities on this corridor have a room you can book, not somewhere you would go on a Thursday.
Beyond that, tennis, pickleball, basketball, a sand volleyball court and a splash pad.
That list is the honest reason to look here. If a community's social life matters more to you than its lot sizes, this is the one on Corkscrew Road that answers it.
Does The Place at Corkscrew Have a Golf Course?
No, and this one is worth being careful about because the surroundings mislead.
Old Corkscrew Golf Club sits across the road. It is a separate, public course and it is not part of this community. Some property directories list a championship course among The Place's amenities, which is that course being credited to the wrong place.
So if golf inside the gates is what you want, the Estero communities that have it are Pelican Sound, Grandezza and West Bay Club. If you simply want a course nearby, this address has one over the road, which suits plenty of people better and costs nothing in dues.
What Kind of Water Is It?
Lake, and no route to anywhere.
There is no boat access to Estero Bay or the Gulf from The Place at Corkscrew, as with every community on this corridor. Only two Estero communities reach the Gulf by boat, Pelican Sound and West Bay Club, both through the Estero River.
It is worth saying plainly because lake water and water that goes somewhere look identical in a listing photograph, and it is the single most common thing buyers get wrong about this market.
How Does It Compare With the Rest of Estero?
Corkscrew Road holds several gated communities that read alike from the outside and differ in what they are actually built around.
Corkscrew Shores is built around a 240-acre lake with the Captain's Club restaurant on site. Verdana Village has indoor air-conditioned courts, which matter in August. RiverCreek has a large amenity complex and sits inside a community development district. Corkscrew Estates is deliberately small, estate homes on big lots and little shared facility. Kingston is at the very start of a far larger build.

By being honest about whether you will use it, because that is what you are paying for here.
A large amenity is funded through dues whether you swim, eat and play or not. For an owner who is here year-round and social, this is among the best value on the road. For somebody here eight weeks a year who wants a quiet lanai, a smaller community costs less and gives more of what they actually came for.
